FontGenius - Font identification utility
There are thousands upon thousands of fonts out there, so good luck identifying a font if you spot one you like. This is why FontGenius is worth looking at. It makes font identification much easier. The interesting part is that it is capable of identifying fonts from images. As a result, you can find out what font was used, regardless of where you see it.
FontGenius is free to try with some limitations. It is compatible with all modern Windows versions and it can be installed quickly, without going through any complex settings. The hardware requirements are modest and you don't have to install any prerequisite tools.
Setting everything up is quite easy. You can import images in various formats, after which you only need to make a rectangular selection around the font you want identified and click a button. The software will take some time to identify your selection. When the scanning is complete, FontGenius will display all possible font matches in a list, on the lower half of the interface.
FontGenius provides you with a few tools to help you prepare better. For example, you can use an eraser on the loaded picture, if the area around the font is too crowded. A rotation tool is available as well, which can come in useful if the picture of the font is slanted.
Figuring out what font you see in front of you can be a trivial task when using FontGenius.
Pros:
You can identify fonts from images. The application has a user friendly interface, with only a few and easy to spot controls.
Cons:
It is difficult to assess the software's effectiveness due to its trial limitation.
